Inconel Vacuum Age Hardening Services
Applied Thermal Technologies offers bright vacuum heat treating, brazing, and age hardening services for specialty products manufactured with Inconel. Inconel – a set of nickel-chromium alloys that are durable, corrosion-resistant, and rust-resistant – is used in a wide variety of industries.
From aerospace to defense, Inconel is valued for its resistance to heat, pressure, oxidation, and corrosion. Inconel is used in the aerospace industry for applications – such as jet engines – where intensely high temperatures can be present. Under high heat, Inconel forms a protective oxide layer that makes it heat resistant.
Inconel Capabilities
Applied Thermal Technologies is capable of vacuum heat-treating Inconel to AMS 2769 standards and maintaining furnaces with stringent controls of AMS 2750. Additionally, we have the ability to age Inconel products up to 12 feet long in air and vacuum solution anneal and age products up to 48 inches long.
We are capable of meeting the following specifications: AMS 2774, AMS 5596, AMS 5662, and AMS 5663. Our Nadcap-accredited quality system is certified to ISO 9001 and AS9100 and compliant with ITAR and EAR.

Inconel Grades
At Applied Thermal Technologies, we work with a wide variety of Inconel alloys.
Inconel 718 (Inco 718)
Inconel 718 is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant nickel chromium material. It is useful at -423° to 1300°F. Inconel 718 is composed of 50-55 percent Nickel and 17-21 percent Chromium. This age-hardenable alloy can be easily fabricated and has excellent welding characteristics. Inco 718 also offers good tensile, fatigue, creep, and rupture strength resulting in its usefulness in a wide range of applications including components for liquid-fueled rockets, rings, casing and various formed sheet metal parts for aircraft and land-based gas turbine engines. It is also used in cryogenic tankage, fasteners, and instrumentation parts.
Inconel 718 is typically solution annealed and precipitation hardened.
Inconel 625 (Inco 625)
Inconel 625 is a corrosion and oxidation-resistant nickel-based alloy. Known for its outstanding strength and toughness under high temperatures, Inco 625 also has excellent fatigue strength as well as stress-corrosion cracking resistance in chloride ions. Inconel 625 is used for heat shields, furnace hardware, gas turbine engine ducting, combustion liners, spray bars, chemical plant hardware, and special seawater applications. This alloy has good machinability and weldability.
Inconel 625 can be high solution annealed, low solution annealed, and stress relieved.
Inconel X750 (Inco X750)
Inconel X750 is a precipitation hardenable Nickel-Chromium alloy with high strength at temperatures up to 1300°F and oxidation resistance up to 1800°F. This alloy offers excellent resistance to relaxation making it ideal for applications such as springs, fasteners and other components also requiring resistance to high temperatures and corrosive elements.
Inconel X750 can be heat-treated and age-hardened.
Inconel 909 (Inco 909)
Inconel 909 is a nickel-iron-cobalt alloy with a constant low coefficient of thermal expansion, a constant modulus of elasticity, and high strength. This alloy is frequently used in gas turbines including applications such as vanes, casings, shafts, and shrouds. Inconel 909 is also used in rocket-engine thrust chambers, ordnance hardware, springs, steam-turbine bolts, gauge blocks, instrumentation, and glass-sealing applications.
Inco 909 is strengthened by a precipitation-hardening heat treatment made possible by the additions of niobium and titanium.
Inconel 600 (Inco 600)
Inconel 600 has a high nickel content giving the alloy resistance to corrosion by many organic and inorganic compounds. It is also nearly immune to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking. Its chromium content provides resistance to sulfur compounds and oxidizing conditions at high temperatures or in corrosive solutions. Inco 600 is used in a wide variety of industries.
Inconel 600 is hardened and strengthened by cold work.
